“PLANTS SPEAK THROUGH US” A comics workshop with artist Ahmed Tawfik "النباتات تتحدث من خلالنا" مع الفنان أحمد توفيق
Plants and art lovers, this is an urgent call for you!
In this workshop, Participants will be going through a plant's journey, searching for different types of plants, identifying them, expressing themselves through them, and every participant will make a short two-page comic story.

Course Outline:
Session 1: Saturday 11.06.2022
An introduction to comics and the comics art scene in Egypt and the Arab world throughout the past 10 years; showing examples from Tawfik’s body of work, and a discussion of the workshop’s main topic.
Session 2: Saturday 18.06.2022
The workshop will be hosting one of the active comics artists in Egypt, to share their experience, the concept of cadres and how to create them. Participants will start working on a short two-page comic story.
Session 3: Saturday 25.06.2022
a walk through different works by different Egyptian and foreign comic artists, and an introduction to building characters of your story. Participants will continue working on their short stories.
Session 4: Saturday 02.07.2022
Surprise guest will join in! Hint: He is one of the current organizers and curators of the Egyptian comics art scene. They will be sharing their experience, their body of work and the challenges of comics art production in Egypt. Participants will be finishing their short stories.
Session 5: Saturday 09.07.2022
An open studio day for the final projects of the participants.

About Ahmed Tawfik:
Tawfik is an Egyptian artist and researcher who graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts. He published his first publication titled “The Sixth Day” with the Tosh Fesh publishing house in Lebanon the same year of his graduation. Ahmed also worked as an illustrator for Madamasr, the Egyptian Tok Tok magazine, and Silage magazine, and he is one of the organizers of the Cairocomix Festival. Tawfik has participated in many exhibitions in Egypt, Lebanon, France and Switzerland.

المحاضرة الأولي: السبت ١١ يونيو ٢٠٢٢
للتعارف وعرض نماذج من أعمال أحمد توفيق الفنية، والتحدث عن فن الكومیكس فى مصر والوطن العربى خلال العشر سنوات الاخيرة، وكذلك التحدث عن موضوع الورشة الأساسي "النباتات تتحدث من خلالنا" وبرنامج الورشة.
المحاضرة الثانية: السبت١٨ يونيو ٢٠٢٢
سيقوم أحمد توفيق باستضافة أحد فناني الكوميكس للتحدث عن تجربته الفنية، شرح مفهوم الكادرات وكيفية تقسيمها، والبدء في تنفيذ القصة المكونة من صفحتين.
المحاضرة الثالثة: السبت ٢٥ يونيو ٢٠٢٢
نقاش عن مشهد فن الكوميكس في الوطن العربي عامة ومصر خاصة، عرض أعمال فنانين مصريين وغير مصريين وتكملة تنفيذ القصص مع المشاركين بالورشة.
المحاضرة الرابعة: السبت ٢ يوليو ٢٠٢٢
استضافة أحد الفنانين القائمين على المشهد الفني للكوميكس، للتحدث عن تجربته ومناقشة خطوات إنتاج فن الكوميكس والتحديات المواجهة، وإنهاء القصص المصورة مع المشاركين بالورشة.
المحاضرة الخامسة: السبت ٩ يوليو ٢٠٢٢
استوديو مفتوح لعرض نتاج الورشة والأعمال النهائية للمشاركين.

- خلال ٤٨ ساعة من موعد بدء الورشة لا يحق للمشترك استرداد قيمة الورشة.
:عن أحمد توفيق
أحمد توفيق هو فنان مصري وباحث تخرج من كلية الفنون التطبيقية وفي نفس العام أصدر كتابه أعماله "اليوم السادس" مع دار "Tash Fash" للنشر والتوزيع، لبنان.
كما عمل كمصمم مع "مدى مصر"، مجلة "توك توك"، ومجلة Silage.
يعمل ايضاً كأحد منظمي مهرجان القاهرة للكوميكس، كما شارك في العديد من المعارض داخل مصر وخارجها، مثل لبنان، فرنسا، وسويسرا.
